Here is some information about Riffa, Bahrain:

Characteristics Riffa is the second largest city in Bahrain and consists of three parts: East Riffa, West Riffa and North Riffa. The city is located entirely in the Southern Governorate and has an area of 41 km². The population totaled 195,606 in 2018.

History Riffa was once the most important settlement on the island of Bahrain before it was replaced by the port of Manama in the course of the 19th century.

Built during the reign of Sheikh Salman bin Ahmed Al Fateh Al Khalifa in 1812, Riffa Fort was once a residence for Sheikh Salman bin Ahmed Al Fateh and was later inherited by his grandchildren.

Worth Seeing East Riffa has many attractions including Riffa Fort, also known as Sheikh Salman Bin Ahmad Al Fateh Fort. The city has several shopping centers and two main commercial streets; Riffa Market (سوق الرفاع, Souk ar-Rifa) and Bukuwara Street Market. The former is larger while the latter is more organized and modern.
