Al-Malikiyah is a coastal village on the west coast of the island of Bahrain. It is part of the Northern Governorate and is home to the Malkiya Club football club. The village is also home to the tomb and shrine of Zayd ibn Suhan, one of Ali's companions.
The history of Al-Malikiyah dates back to the Middle Ages, when church institutions collected valuable liturgical equipment and works of art. The collected objects form the basis for today's cathedral treasure museums.
European royal houses have been building art collections since the 14th century. Early forms can be found in the 18th century mainly as princely collections, art and rarity cabinets.
There are no museums in Al-Malikiyah, but there are many attractions such as the tomb of Zayd ibn Suhan, the Malkiya Stadium and the seafront of the village. The coast is a popular place for hiking and cycling.
Bahrain is known for its specialties such as machboos, a rice dish with meat or fish, and gahwa, a strong coffee with cardamom.
Here is a short poem about Al-Malikiyah:
In Al-Malikiyah, the coastal village of Bahrain,
Read the shrine of Zayd ibn Suhan, a companion of Ali's reign.
The village is home to the Malkiya Club football team,
And the coast is a scenic spot for a walk or a dream.
